Guided tour of the archaeological area of Pompeii with excursion to the Vesuvius

To date, the excavations of Pompeii represent the third most visited state museum in Italy, surpassed only by the Pantheon and the Colosseum with the Roman Forum. Moreover, the archaeological park of Pompeii became part of the UNESCO heritage, together with those of Herculaneum and Oplonti. The excavations of Pompeii are the only archaeological site in the world, along with that of Herculaneum, able to give back to the visitor an urban center of ancient Rome, whose life remained steady on a distant morning in 79 AD, the year in which Vesuvius decided to erase it from the earthquake by a violent eruption. The city owes its exceptional state of preservation to the way it was buried: tons of ashes, pumice and lapilli covered it under a layer of over 6 meters while at the same time preserving it from most of the offenses of time and adverse weather conditions.
