Discover the majesty of the symbolic places of Naples where history and modernity coexist

Better known with the name of Maschio Angioino to distinguish it from the Castle of Capuana and the Castel dell’Ovo, the Castel Nuovo is an imposing fortress with five towers, each with its own name, built during the reign of the Angevins and dominates the whole view of the bay. In particular, not to be missed for beauty, there is the Triumphal Arch that connects the Torre di Mezzo and the Guard Tower: built in marble, it has rich decorations, inlays and small sculptures. Among the numerous rooms inside the castle, worthy of note is certainly the splendid Sala dei Baroni in which the City Council meetings take place; the Maschio Angioino, moreover, houses the Civic Museum of Naples. From here you can easily reach the famous Piazza del Plebiscito and, on your way, you can stop and admire the majestic Galleria Umberto I: a shopping arcade built between 1887 and 1890, with four different entrances and two intersecting streets inside orthogonally covered by a window and the dome and bounded by four buildings. A true masterpiece of sumptuous liberty style impossible to miss!
